This part will be the teaser of the Summit. It will set out the theme and tone of the summit. It will define the 3Ds - decarbonisation, digitalisation, and decentralisation - help to understand their interconnectivity and highlight the disappearance of boundaries between the sectors. This will also relink to our previous summit in 2016 and stress the urge to push forward.
BLOCK 2 - Motivation and confidence to change
This part of the Summit will deliver practical advice on how businesses can create disruption internally and externally. This part of the summit will provide insights on how to accelerate innovation, design and execute new customer-centric business models. Disruption often comes from outside an existing industry. Incumbent firms need to re-evaluate traditional models and react to changing technology environments. We will learn how to create the future instead of predicting it. Business leaders will learn how to change the DNA of their company. This block will set the scene for change.
BLOCK 3 - Business Leaders sharing insights
Innovation technologies reshape the competitive playing field of businesses. Technology can increase agility, productivity and improve processes. While executives understand these benefits, the path to adopting technologies can be daunting. In order to develop sufficient confidence, the session will deliver insights and practical learning outcomes from leaders around the world, showcasing real world applications pertinent to the energy sector.
PART 1How can we unlock the power of new and emerging technologies? How will technology break down barriers to transparency, choice and freedom for our customers? In this block we will learn how digital technologies can help to transform the traditional energy sector landscape to a consumer centric business model. Business leaders will deliver insights on how to leverage the value of digital technologies to achieve social, environmental and commercial outcomes.
PART 2Moving away from the grid but connecting it all
How to connect energy resources in the most efficient way, creating a more dynamic grid? How can we create more flexible and decentralised grids, but maintain grid stability and efficiency, whilst absorbing more renewable energy?
BLOCK 4 - Business Leader sharing insights
Decarbonisation will cause a shift in global economic resources and will not only affect major utilities. Understanding these shifts will help leaders to better strategically position themselves for the future. We will look into the most challenging sectors to decarbonise and provide practical solutions. We will showcase how innovative technologies can support this transition.
PART 1How to decarbonise transport including aviation without sacrifices made to travel? This session will look into intelligent transport solutions. Energy leaders will present solutions on how to move people differently. We will learn how to save time and fuel while improving the way we live. The sector is full of opportunities for businesses to expand into if we leverage off the platform we already have.
PART 2We need to fundamentally change the way we consume energy. How can primary industries become part of the solution rather than the problem? How to decarbonise the economy when still providing nourishment feeding for 10 billion plus people? Sustainable leaders will demonstrate energy efficient technologies which have the potential to completely transform the way we produce and farm today.
BLOCK 5 - Plenary sessions
The innovators and policies of tomorrow
BLOCK 6 - Smart communities and wrap up
The shift towards a more decentral, digital and decarbonised economy can be seen across the world. Lack in data transparency, inefficiencies of centralised systems and the need for greater system resiliency are only a few reasons driving this movement. This final part of the summit will demonstrate how the 3Ds can interact in creating more resilient and energy efficient communities. We will learn from the smartest cities in the world on how to use technology to reduce resources such as energy while improving our lifestyles and improving resilience. We will summarise, reinforce learnings and deliver key outtakes for all participants to gain sufficient confidence to proceed in creating the future we want to participate in.
