World Energy Issues Monitor 2020

As a future energy leader who will help shape our energy transition, BusinessNZ Energy Council on behalf of the World Energy Council, warmly invite you to participate in this year’s World Energy Issues Survey. The survey collects perspectives from across the energy sector, assessing the impact, uncertainty and priority of crucial energy issues. It helps identify how the importance and urgency of issues here compare to other nations, and highlights the key issues so that they can be tackled proactively. Note – as there is not a separate category for the Network, please identify yourself as a FEL.

Our third webinar - from Taranaki!

Last week our Taranaki team hosted a webinar on the energy developments in the region and the look-ahead to future energy development.

Presenters from Tilt Renewables and Basepower spoke about the Waipipi wind farm and the basepower solar plus storage units as well as the wins and challenges they have had in executing these renewable energy sources.

Justine Gilliland from Venture Taranaki spoke about the Taranaki 2050 roadmap and Taranaki’s journey on the energy transition including the launch of Ara Ake, the national new energy development center.

While the event wasn’t able to be held in person, it was an extra bonus having attendees from around the rest of the country able to join online!  If you missed it you can watch the recording here.

YEPN Coffee Catch-Up resuming

Our Coffee Catch-Up programme for Auckland and Wellington is set to resume next month.  All participants should have received an email last week confirming participation.  If you didn't and would like to participate, please reach out via email.

Long-Range Wireless Power Transmission

Kiwi start-up EMROD has developed a long-range, high-power, wireless power transmission system as an alternative to the existing transmission method.

The Emrod technology works by converting electricity into electromagnetic waves to transmit energy wirelessly over long distances. The electricity distribution company, Powerco, will be the first to test Emrod technology to deliver electricity in remote places, or across areas with challenging terrain.
