Hooray, it’s the Holidays!

The Young Energy Professionals Network is wishing you holidays filled with fun and laughter. We can’t wait to see you next year. We will be back with more updates in February 2019.
YEPN wants you!
BEC's Young Energy Professional Network (YEPN) is currently looking for two new board chairs. We thank Emily Calvert (Transpower) and Nicolas Vessiot (PowerCo) for doing such a wonderful job. After three years they will pass on the role to the next generation of young professionals. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved in organising events and newsletters, maintaining relationships and representing the Network at industry events, and setting a strategy for the Network. So if you’re interested get in touch
All videos are now available!
At this year's Asia Pacific Energy Leaders’ Summit (2018 APELS), Business leaders from around the world gathered to share insights on trends in decarbonisation, decentralisation and digitalisation, new technologies and business strategies. These issues related not only  to the energy sector but to sectors which are strongly influencing the way we consume energy today and tomorrow. We invited everyone to think outside the box. All videos, presentations and photos are now available online. Read more...
Low-carbon economy report released
First Gas and Powerco commissioned Vivid Economics to explore the potential scenarios for future use of the gas infrastructure as New Zealand moves to a low-carbon economy. The report explores three different scenarios – a diversified energy mix, a green gas (hydrogen and/or biogas) option and an all-electric future - and the impact of these scenarios on gas infrastructure use and affordability.
What's new in the world of power exchange?
Transpower were delighted to hosted the 23rd annual Association of Power Exchanges (APEx) Conference in Wellington in mid-October. The conference is an opportunity to share learnings from electricity and electricity market operators from around the world. Despite our differences, there were many common issues such as renewables integration, efficient price formation and impacts of new technology. Full presentations available here
YEPN is growing!
BusinessNZ Energy Council (BEC) established the Young Energy Professionals Network (YEPN) back in 2015. Since then the group has grown to over 250 members across New Zealand. This year we launched our mentoring programme in Auckland and Wellington, offered teleconferencing options for events and hosted our first ever Taranaki event. Know someone who might like to join us next year? Feel free to pass this on!
