Get involved in 2017

Welcome to our first Young Energy Professionals newsletter for 2017!

Here at YEPN we aim to develop a network to share ideas with other professionals, to broaden and deepen our collective understanding of the energy sector and to shape the industry's future.

We've got plenty of ways you can get involved this year. Are you keen to have your say about the future of New Zealand's energy industry? Or would you like to travel the world and see how we compare with other countries? Keep reading to find out how...

The World Energy Council is looking for Future Energy Leaders. The FEL-100 programme aims to inspire the next generation of leaders to solve the world's most pressing energy challenges. As part of the programme you'll get to attend regional and international events like the World Energy Congress. Details here.

Speaking of energy challenges, what do you think are the biggest challenges and opportunities in the New Zealand energy industry? YEPN will present at this year's Downstream conference. This is our chance to help shape NZ's energy future. Come along to our Auckland workshop, or email us to tell us what you think.

As if those two great opportunities weren't enough, Callaghan Innovation and Creative HQ are looking for NZ's smartest minds to improve the future of electric energy in our lives. There's $40,000 worth of prize money up for grabs. Find out more about the Lighting Lab Electric Innovation Challenge here.

And finally, the New Zealand Institute of Gas Engineers are calling for entries to the Young Persons Paper CompetitionSubmit an abstract on a project you are involved in or a gas related topic you are passionate about. One lucky winner will be going to the World Gas Conference in Washington DC.
